The Business Insights Analytics team at AIM Specialty Health seeks seasoned analytics professionals to align with business partners and deliver insights that drive our business. You will merge your business acumen and passion for numbers to deliver critical business insights when they will make the greatest impact. You will demonstrate the value of AIM Solutions to our clients, provide analyses that guide the development of new solutions to contain medical costs, and develop new and better ways to analyze our data.
Advanced SQL Server and Microsoft Office expertise are a given. Intellectual curiosity, superior data mining skills, and the ability to distill financial impacts and levers and communicate them to non-technical audiences is a must. What will make you stand out versus other candidates? Demonstrated ability to empower analytics-driven business decisions, knowledge of medical claims data, RStudio and data visualization skills, practical experience applying statistical concepts to business decisions, and/or actuarial experience.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to
  • Transform data into insights. Consolidate complex analytics into easy to understand presentations focused on business implications. Present findings.
  • Identify trends and resolve discrepancies. May provide recommendations at Sr and Consultant levels.
  • Provide analytic consultation to other business areas, leadership and/or external customers at Consultant level. 
  • Understand pitfalls and limitations of data analysis. Ensure quality of data and analysis.
  • Provide statistical rigor. May build, test, and validate statistical models.
  • Develop and gain alignment on technical definitions for metrics and methods.
  • May interpret business issues and collaborate on development of usable decision support tools.
  • Share knowledge and expertise in SQL and other analytical tools. Master new analytical skills and tools.
  • Analysis of more complex and varied metrics at Sr level; much higher complexity level at Consultant level.
  • More autonomy at Sr and Consultant levels. 

  • BS/BA degree in related field; 2-4 years related operational and/or data analysis experience (3-5 years at Sr level and 5+ years at Consultant level), and experience in database structures, and standard query and reporting tools.
    • Preferred degree fields: mathematics, statistics, finance, actuarial science.
    • Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
  • Healthcare experience (e.g., medical insurance, health plan, integrated delivery network) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manipulate large data sets required. 3-5 years direct experience programming large, multi-source datasets, especially medical claims data preferred.
  • Experience with relational databases and knowledge of query tools and statistical software required.
    • Expert SQL and Excel skills and SAS experience strongly preferred.
    • RStudio (R, Shiny, ggplot) and Python experience preferred.
  • Application of advanced statistical methods to business problems in a business environment desired.
  • Sr level more focused on complex and varied metrics, making recommendations, and providing assistance to staff.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills required at Sr and Consultant levels.
  • Consultant level more focused on a higher level of technical expertise, mentoring, and collaborative activities. Work is higher volume, higher risk, and/or more complex than at Sr level.
