Job Description

This position will be located at AIM's corporate office in Chicago IL (near O'Hare Airport).  This position may be hired at either the Advanced Analytics Analyst or Sr level based on candidate experience.

Our New Solutions team seeks Advanced Analytics professionals to execute complex analyses that guide the development of new utilization management programs and other medical cost containment solutions. The successful candidates will work with clinical staff and other teams to optimize program guidelines and quantify the financial value of proposed and new programs. Intellectual curiosity, superior data mining skills, and the ability to distill and communicate financial levers and impacts to non-technical audiences is a must.
 
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Performs established analysis for routine diagnoses of quality, use, cost and other variables for opportunity assessments.
  • Collaborates with clinical staff and other teams to identify targeted patient populations and metrics to define, refine, and quantify new opportunities. More autonomy at Sr level.
  • Executes identification and stratification algorithm to select the right members for the targeted solution.
  • Develops the technical definitions for outcome metrics to assess outcomes; performs defined analyses to assess proper outcome metrics for various programs/initiatives.
  • Builds, tests, and validates statistical models. Less supervision at the Sr level.
  • Understands the pitfalls and limitations of analyzing practical data and ensures data and analysis quality.
  • Develops and executes advanced SQL queries to extract and analyze data.
  • Mines structured data sets, communicating findings to technical and non-technical audiences. Provides business recommendations at Sr level.
  • Consolidates complex analytics into easy to understand presentations focused on business implications and presents findings.
  • Delivers assignments/projects timely and accurately.
  • Shares knowledge and expertise in SQL and other analytical tools. 
  • Possesses strong intellectual curiosity and is motivated to master analytical skills.
Requires
  • Graduate-level degree with concentration in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Epidemiology, Engineering, Computer Science or Operations Research ; 0-3 years direct experience applying statistical/analytical tools to solve research/practical problems; some exposure to health care or related fields preferable; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. 
  • 3-5 years direct experience programming large, multi-source datasets. 
  • Significant experience in healthcare related field preferred.
  • Expert SQL skills and experience with Microsoft SQL Server strongly preferred.
  • Experience with software such as SAS Stat, SAS ETS, SAS Enterprise Miner or equivalents preferred.
  • R and Python experience preferred.
 
Sr Level Requires
  • Graduate-level degree with concentration in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, computer science, cognitive science, economics, or operations research; 3-5 years direct experience programming large, multi-source datasets with SQL required. 
  • 3-5 years in health care setting; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.   
  • Significant experience in healthcare related field strongly preferred.
  • PhD preferred. 
  • Experience with data models, addressing data quality issues in study design, constructing robust and efficient analytical data sets. 
  • Proven ability to design modeling studies. 
  • Expert SQL skills and experience with Microsoft SQL Server strongly preferred.
  • Experience with software such as SAS Stat, SAS ETS, SAS Enterprise Miner or equivalents preferred.
  • R and Python experience preferred.
  • Ability to participate collaboratively on teams tasked with producing complex analyses.
  • Proven ability to present meaningful results to a business audience.
