Job Summary:
The Business Information Analyst II will focus on Anthem’s shift from traditional volume-based provider reimbursements to Enhanced Personal Health Care (EPHC) value-based provider reimbursements and will be responsible for analyzing, reporting and developing recommendations on data related to complex and varied business metrics. This is an exciting opportunity to change and evolve healthcare.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  1. Work with and enhance Anthem’s proprietary Payment Innovation Management System (PIMS) to administer contracted EPHC agreements.
  2. Understand the PIMS installed business and agreements, and ensure financial output integrity.
  3. Serve as the liaison with internal organizations (e.g. Actuarial, IT, Finance, and Business Departments, particularly with Provider Engagement and Contracting) to develop and implement consistent information infrastructure and tools.
  4. Analyzes data and summarizes performance using summary statistical procedures.
  5. May require taking business issue and devising best way to develop appropriate diagnostic and/or tracking data that will translate business requirements into usable decision support tools.
  6. May make recommendations based upon data analysis.
  7. May create and maintain databases to track business performance if needed.
  8. Develops and analyzes business performance reports (e.g. for claims data, provider data, utilization data) and provides notations of performance deviations and anomalies.
  9. Creates and publishes periodic reports, makes necessary recommendations, and develops ad hoc reports as needed.
  • 2-4+ years data analysis or any combination of education and related experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • BS/BA degree in related field, including but not limited to Business, Finance/Accounting, Actuarial Science/Mathematics, Information Management/Data Science, Healthcare disciplines.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • This job is focused on complex and varied metrics, making recommendations and providing assistance to staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manipulate large sets of data is required.
  • Experience with relational databases and knowledge of query tools or statistical software is highly preferred. Examples of tools include SQL (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Teradata) or SAS.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
