Job Summary:
 
As part of the Clinical Analytics Team, you will be responsible for (1) managing and querying large datasets, (2) describing and predicting clinical events using statistics and algorithmic modeling, and (3) creating data visualizations that allow clinicians and decision makers to interact with your findings.
 
Responsible for analyzing, reporting and developing recommendations on data related to complex and varied business metrics. Typically provides technical assistance to lower level staff.
 
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  1. Writing SQL code for data analysis as well as to add to and maintain our clinical database and datasets.
  2. Develop and interpret summary statistics on key clinical metrics used by clinical staff.
  3. Perform in-depth analysis on specific health related issues as asked by clinical leadership.
  4. Model algorithms that contribute predictively or descriptively to our knowledge of our members and their health needs.
  5. Communicate effectively with non-technical staff and decision makers both in presentations and through the use of visualization tools.
  6. Demonstrate a willingness to problem solve, collaborate, and think creatively to further serve our members.
  7. Creates and maintains databases to track business performance.
  8. Analyzes data and summarizes performance using summary statistical procedures.
  9. Develops and analyzes business performance reports (e.g. for claims data, provider data, utilization data) and provides notations of performance deviations and anomalies.
  10. Creates and publishes periodic reports, as well as any necessary ad hoc reports.
  11. May require taking business issue and devising best way to develop appropriate diagnostic and/or tracking data that will translate business requirements into usable decision support tools.
  12. May make recommendations based upon data analysis.
  • Requires a BS/BA degree in mathematics, computer science, economics or related field.
  • Requires healthcare experience and prior knowledge of healthcare data and clinical concepts.
  • 3-5 years data analysis or related experience.
  • Familiarity with basic analytic techniques, statistics, and modeling is required.
  • Knowledge or experience in developing ML is valued.
  • Any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • 3-5 years SQL experience required (T-SQL preferred).
  • Familiarity with concepts like update, indexes, case statements, joins, subqueries, aggregate functions, etc. is required.
  • Familiarity SQL and other data environments such as MS SQL Server, Teradata, Hadoop.
  • Familiarity Programming in R, Python or other computational stat software.
  • Ability to write 'stored procedures.'
  • Experience with advanced analytics.
  • Experience with data modeling.
  • Healthcare experience required.
  • Experience with relational databases and knowledge of query tools and statistical software is required.
  • Ability to manipulate large sets of data is also required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • This job is focused on complex and varied metrics, making recommendations and providing assistance to staff as compared to the Bus Info Analyst II job.
