Internal Title:  Manager II Technology

Location:  Atlanta, GA; Richmond or Norfolk, VA; Indianapolis, IN or Mason, OH

Responsible for maintaining Information Technology (IT) strategies by researching and implementing technological strategic solutions to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT department. You will manage our TIGER  team (on-site service technicians) to use strong customer focus and problem-solving approach.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees a technical team of Anthem associates who provide onsite/remote support to call center agents in 16 of Anthem’s busiest Call Center locations within the US.
  • Supports software system solutions that support the operations of their functional areas.
  • Recommends creative means to utilize this team’s capabilities and strengths in areas that can be helpful to the larger organization.
  • Develops strong working relationships with other internal organizations. Manages multiple internal projects or strategic initiatives through cross team collaboration.
  • Develops and implements appropriate staffing strategies.
  • Provides business relationship management
  • Demonstrates understanding of culture shaping concepts.
  • Develops a strong team through training and effective organizational development practices.
  • Evaluates all directives, change orders, and projects as to their impact on tactical plans, budgets, and contract compliance.
  • Manages the communication portfolio for the team, ensuring effective means of communication are in place for the larger organization.
  • Oversees and implements new subsystems, procedures and techniques.
  • Manages implementation/integration projects to ensure deliverables.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with the business partners and other IT organizations, serving as their primary point of contact for the functions supported.
  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.

Job Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS in Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or related field;
  • 5 years of experience leading project teams, application software development, maintenance or implementation and support,
  • 3 years of management experience (including lead/training/other related experience); or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • StrongCustomer Focus
  • Prior leadership or management experience is required
  • Health insurance industry experience is required, and Anthem experience is a plus
  • Expertise in relevant tools and technical skills is a plus
  • Ability to manage across geographically diverse associates and vendor partners
  • StrongProject Management skills and proven experience with providing executive levelstatus on portfolio execution, vendor management and financial analysis
  • Strong tactical planning, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and detail tactical levels
  • Effective communication skills, including documentation, facilitation, consultation, negotiation and persuasion 
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, counsel and train staff
  • Comfortable with change and working with ambiguity
  • Experience in Waterfall and Agile Methodologies is a plus
