Account Management Executive
Work location: California or Colorado (Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, Woodland Hills, or Walnut Creek, CA. Or Denver, CO.

 
The Account Management Executive is responsible for all aspects of client relationship management with national account employer groups. In this role, working with a team of professionals, the Account Management Executive has ultimate responsibility for the retention and growth of a national account book of business, negotiating renewals to achieve business goals, and achieving consistently high client satisfaction results.  The Account Management Executive will oversee all client strategy development and execution, operational service delivery, and ongoing client initiatives and projects in order to achieve these goals. May also work with new sales associates on new and expansion opportunities. Typical group size is 5,000+ eligible or enrolled subscribers.
 
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Defines and oversees the execution of account management and retention strategy for a defined  book of accounts.
  • Identifies opportunities for additional sales via product and/or marketplace expansion.
  • Proactively develops effective business relationships with brokers, consultants, and key client decision makers in order to meet or exceed goals.
  • Uses analytics and other information to demonstrate superior ability to uncover client challenges.
  • Responsible for managing the annual renewal process for accounts, including underwriting negotiation, preparation of renewal analysis, and client presentations.
  • Works directly with Account Service Representatives, Operations Management, Clinical Program Management, and Implementation Management to ensure that all aspects of account service expectations are achieved.
  • Provides support for field sales staff with RFP responses, proposals, client presentations, and underwriting coordination on new business sales opportunities.


  • Requires a BA/BS plus 5 years of experience in a similar Account Executive role; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background needed to successfully manage a complex book of business.
  • Experience managing commercial large group or national accounts clients in a large group or national accounts Health plan setting required. 
  • Superior verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities with demonstrated ability to lead multi-functional teams and to influence internal and external decision makers.
  • Broad business acumen.
  • Strong level of knowledge of underwriting.
  • High level of strategic thinking skills.
  • Superior results in prior experience in sales, retention, service and/or financial results. 
  • Sales licensure required by day one of employment.
