The Pharmacy Tech II is responsible for gathering clinical information and coordinating cases regarding prior authorization and peer to peer. Develops and maintains positive customer relations. Primary duties may include, but not limited to: Verifies member information and inputs clinical data for the pharmacists and or medical director. Performs research to respond to inquiries, appropriate processing, area to refer or assign case, and troubleshooting prescriber issues. Processes prior authorization requests from physician’s offices and ensures compliance with Medicare requirements. May act as liaison between Medical Management and/or Operations and internal departments. Maintains and updates tracking databases. Educates providers/prescribers on pharmacy based rules related to prior authorization and/or peer review. Responsible for reviewing requests by fax or telephone. Fully proficient in all key areas; performs many complex functions. Required to meet department goals and expectations.
Requires a high school diploma.
  • 2 years of pharmacy experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Current, unrestricted state Pharmacy Technician License and National Certification issued by PTCB are required.
  • Good computer and written, oral and interpersonal communications skills required.
  • Prior call center experience strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
