Internal Job Title:  Staff VP, Sr. Client Tech Exec

In this role you will serve as the primary liaison to sales and marketing executives, plan presidents, external customers and sales and business leaders.  As a direct report to the Commercial Benefits CIO, you will be instrumental in defining and implementing a Salesforce Center of Excellence. You will also lead a dev/ops team of several hundred people, both on and off shore, to deliver innovative solutions for shopping, quoting, rating, underwriting and sales force effectiveness, as well as assist in proposal preparation for hundreds of external customers. 
You will lead the work to define multi-year strategic capability roadmaps and deployment plans facilitating both IT and business leaders.   

  • Lead the IT Account Management teams supporting National Accounts, Plan Presidents, and Large and Small Group sales teams.
  • Assist the sales teams when responding to RFP’s.
  • Manage a technology delivery team of architects, developers, portfolio managers and release managers.
  • Manage vendors’ performance.
  • Understand the Commercial Benefits business strategy for your domains and define an IT strategy that aligns and enables it.
  • Drive an innovation agenda with the business areas bringing thought leadership to new products and services.
  • At the direction of the sales teams, meet with external customers.
  • Manage the small project intake and prioritization process across the enterprise.  Develop a proposal to redistribute the small project work through AGILE back to the delivery tower owners.
  • Lead other development teams as requested.
  • Participate in leadership discussions regarding new technology introduction and/or enterprise system planning activities.
  • Translate technology concepts into clear, digestible, business appropriate language.
  • Create images, graphics and/or charts that provide exceptional clarity and connections to business objectives.
  • Create and foster an environment of innovation - including: removing roadblocks and enabling strategic risk taking.
  • Advocate and drives change management, enable and model adoption of innovative behaviors and practices.
  • Commit time, focus and energy to the development, coaching and performance feedback for each employee on the team.
  • Establish effective working relationships with key business and IT partners to drive change agenda.
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year roadmap of business unit’s technology platforms that incorporates legacy platform migrations.
  • Apply industry and technology best practices.
  • Primary point of contact for the triage, management and resolution of all business unit operational and/or data issues that have technology dependencies to ensure performance measures are met and immediate course correction are made.  
  • Partner with IT executives to deliver high quality technology solutions for assigned business unit. 
  • Accountable for budgets. Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.
  • 15 + years of IT leadership, prefer healthcare or financial services
  • 10+ years of people management experience, including performance management and succession planning
  • Business process, data and technology leadership experience
  • 5+ years of vendor relationship management experience
  • Experience creating/building or revitalizing an enterprise level Center of Excellence around SaaS products
  • Experience with complex systems integration, business intelligence, and infrastructure
  • Experience with highly scalable technology solutions that adjust to cyclical business patterns
  • Prior success creating and enabling innovative enterprise technology strategies and architectures
  • Proven ability to identify common functions across disparate applications and creating enterprise services 
  • Demonstrated success in leveraging technology to meet business objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and influence business leadership and technologists, including the ability to fully engage with business leaders, senior leaders and external clients
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong, trusted business partner relationships
  • Prior success affecting change in a large organization
  • High level of emotional intelligence
  • Strong negotiation and consensus building skills
  • Ability to influence others in a matrixed organizational structure 
  • Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred
